Privacy Policy
Introduction and Acknowledgement of the Privacy Policy
Janssen Research & Development respects your privacy and wants you to be familiar with how we collect, use, and disclose Personal Information. This Privacy Policy describes our practices in connection with information that we or our service providers collect through the website or application (hereinafter the “Service”) operated and controlled by our service provider Clinical Trial Media, Inc. from which you are accessing this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to read the full Privacy Policy before using this Service or providing any Personal Information. By providing Personal Information to us or by using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Privacy Policy.
Together, Janssen Research & Development and Clinical Trial Media, Inc. are referred to as “we” and “us”.
Use of Service by Minors
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we request that these individuals not provide Personal Information through the Service. If your child has submitted Personal Information and you would like to request that such Personal Information be removed, please contact us as explained in the Contacting Us section below.
Information Collection
We, our affiliates, and our service providers will use the information that you provide to respond to your requests, including communicating information about the study and related health conditions, reminders, events, surveys, or other topics through email, postal mail, telephone, fax, and text and multimedia messaging. You may unsubscribe from the communications by following the instructions provided with them.
If you participate in eligibility screening, the personal information that you choose to provide through the Service will be processed by Clinical Trial Media, Inc. on behalf of Janssen Research & Development, and then provided to your selected study site, should you be determined to be eligible through the pre-qualification process. The personal information involved includes your name, contact information, health information, and certain demographics such as your age. The study site will receive and retain your information to contact you regarding potential participation in the clinical trial. We will not provide any information that directly identifies you (e.g., your name or contact information) to Janssen Research & Development.
We may combine the information you submit with other information that it might collect from you, whether online or offline, including, for example, discussions with you over the telephone or in person. We may also combine it with information we receive about you from other Johnson & Johnson affiliates and our research partners.
If you submit any Personal Information relating to another individual to us, you represent that you have authority to provide the information and to permit us to use the information in accordance with the terms provided at the point of collection and within this Privacy Policy.
Sensitive Information
Unless we specifically request or invite it, we ask that you not send us or otherwise disclose any sensitive Personal Information (e.g., government identification numbers, information related to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or philosophical beliefs, other health or medical condition not related to this Service, sex life or sexual orientation, criminal background, trade union membership, or biometric or genetic data for the purpose of uniquely identifying an individual) on or through the Service or otherwise directly to us.
Automatic Information Collection and Use
The Service may automatically collect and use information in the following ways as you navigate around the Service:
- From your browser: Most browsers provide certain information with each page request so the website content can be displayed, and the website functions can be performed. Common information sent by your browser includes your device type (e.g., computer, mobile phone, tablet), device identifier, operating system name and version (e.g., Windows, MacOS, Android), screen resolution, Internet browser type and version, and language settings). The Service uses this information so that it functions properly.
- Using cookies: Cookies are pieces of information stored directly on the computer you are using. Cookies allow the Service to collect information such as browser type, time spent on the Service, pages visited, and language preferences. The Service uses the information for security purposes, to facilitate navigation, display information more effectively, and to personalize your experience while using the Service. The Service also uses cookies to recognize your computer or device, which makes your use of the Service easier, such as to remember your selections and preferences. In addition, the Service uses cookies to gather statistical information about usage to continually improve its design and functionality, to understand how individuals use it, and to assist with resolving questions regarding it. You can refuse to accept these cookies or delete them by following your browser’s instructions; however, if you do not accept them, you may experience some inconvenience in your use of the Service.
- Using pixel tags, web beacons, clear GIFs, or other similar technologies: These may be used in connection with some Service pages and HTML-formatted email messages to, among other things, track the actions of users and email recipients, measure the success of our promotions and campaigns, and compile statistics about Service usage.
- Internet protocol (IP) address: Your IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider. An IP address is identified and logged automatically in the Service log files whenever a user visits the Service, along with the time of the visit and the pages visited. The Service relies on IP addresses to know where to send back responses to page requests. Collecting IP addresses is standard practice and is done automatically by many online services. The Service uses IP addresses for purposes such as determining usage levels, diagnosing server problems, and administering the Service. The Service also use the IP address to look up your approximate location (that is, the city and country to which the IP address is associated).
